The drop can be explained, as they lost 3-1 to the Gambia at home in a recent FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Kasarani Stadium. Gambia are ranked lower than Kenya and as a result, they have dropped their overall points tally. Kenya's points total was 1181.64 in the prior ranking but has now dropped down to 1179.06.

Kenya has dropped two places in the latest released FIFA World Football ranking. The latest drop comes in the aftermath of the two FIFA World Cup qualifiers that the country took part in last week.

Kenya was ranked 109 in the July ranking, but now have to accept position 111 for September.

The Gambia are ranked 115 in the latest release by FIFA.

Kenya did beat the Seychelles 5-0 in their next encounter but with the Island side ranked much much lower than them in the overall log (203), it meant nothing much in the grand scheme of things.

Spain top the overall world standings, with France, Argentina, England and Portugal making up the top five sides in the ranking. Morocco is the highest ranked African side at position 11 worldwide.

In East Africa, Uganda lead the way at an impressive position 82 overall. Tanzania are ranked 107.
